New Free public wifi areas in Santa Lucia
The implementation of a public wireless network in the pedestrian area of Avenida de Canarias, and two other points of the lower town, is “a step [forward] in the quality of services we provide to the population” said the Councilman responsible of New Technologies in Santa Lucia, Roberto Ramirez. The network, which is activated this week, is in testing and “covers 110 percent of the pedestrian area”.
In addition to the pedestrianised section of the main shopping avenue in Vecindario, public wifi access will also be available in the Balos shopping area and surroundings, and the International Windsurfing Centre and surrounding areas, in Pozo Izquierdo, added Roberto Ramirez.
The aim of the wireless network, said the councilman, “is twofold, bring citizens of the municipality, and the tourists who visit us, all municipal information through their smartphones or digital tablets and to improve the quality of services within the pedestrian areas”.
